About Cécile

  • Raised in the south of the Netherlands by a musically supportive family, my deep connection to music began early—rushing to the piano as a child to play movie soundtracks by ear. This phonetic and intuitive relationship with melody soon blossomed into a classical piano education, guided in part by a Russian concert pianist in Paris, where I also gave intimate performances. The piano was my intimate relationship with myself at home — a medium through which I didn’t have to speak to be heard.

  • My artistic journey evolved over the years, blending classical roots with a love for cinematic sound, jazz and improvisation. During my student years, I joined a band as a singer, pianist and songwriter, recording and performing live regularly. Being on stage was the most alive I could feel, carrying the audience through what needed to be felt.

In time, I began writing songs that didn’t quite match the upbeat energy of the band: pieces that were slower, dreamier, and steeped in emotion. To keep creating wherever I was, I added guitar to my toolkit, a companion for moments when a piano wasn’t within reach.

Now based in Amsterdam, I perform at a variety of venues including the Westerkerk, Tolhuistuin, and the Van Gogh Museum. I’m the resident pianist for the Offline Club and have been invited to perform in private and public settings for special guests of the museum.

  • When I’m not behind the piano, you can usually find me immersed in other passions of life. I have a background in Art History, Heritage & Management, and I currently work at the Van Gogh Museum as a Directory Officer, which is a great opportunity for me.

Outside of work and music, I’m a mix of a curious wanderer and homebody. I’m infatuated with dogs, getting lost in a good book, striking up random conversations with strangers, and being barefoot. Hiking and spontaneous adventures in nature are my happy place—especially when they involve my beloved Volkswagen van, Fred, who constantly reminds me to keep life simple, pure, and free.

And then there are my outrageously sensational friends and family. Nothing beats time spent with them—laughing, sharing meals, or having deep talks about life, the universe, and everything in between.

    Cheers to the good stuff!
